Andre and Melissa Dorsey

On the afternoon of September 21, 2000, I was involved in a rollover accident on Loop 1604 and almost lost my life. I don’t remember much of the accident, but I remember I was listening to a sermon by Pastor Hagee on tape and telling the paramedics not to turn it off. I knew the Word of God was the only thing that could sustain me at that point. I was airlifted to University Hospital with life threatening injuries. I slipped into a coma for the next three days. When I came out of the coma, I had to be heavily sedated and restrained so I wouldn’t try to get up and possibly hurt myself anymore than I already was. Although I had temporary amnesia, I felt the prayers of people who loved me…my wife and family, my cell leaders and fellow cell members, and my fellow ushers. I couldn’t open my eyes or speak, but I new that I was being prayed for. The report was given to my wife that if I should live I would be partially paralyzed, and most likely unable sustain life on my own…a vegetable if you will. But we didn’t accept that. We waited for the report of the Lord.
When all was said and done, I had finished my rehab and was discharged on December 1. By late spring I was driving again and ushering again. Last September, I was even able to graduate from the school I was attending before the accident. My doctors could not understand the miraculously fast recovery but we knew it was our Lord, the great healer. The medical documents say that I am 100 percent disabled. I say that I am 100 percent blessed of God that He loved me enough to not only spare my life, but to heal me and give me a new beginning. He is an awesome God!
Through my experience, I learned that the prayers of the righteous avail much. My cell was praying for me from the time they found out about the accident. While I was in a coma, they anointed me with oil.  I am living proof that we can lay our hands on the sick and they shall recover. I love my cell and I love the usher corps for their unwaivering support. I hope you can see the importance of being in a cell and being involved in the church. Now, my wife and I have become cell leaders ourselves and share the glory of God each week with our cell members whom we dearly love.
From beginning to end, we had faith in God. In Mark 11:23 Jesus said “ For assuredly I say unto you, whoever says unto this mountain, ‘Be removed and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.” Eliminate the unbelief and you will receive healing and life more abundant. We meet every Tuesday night. We’d love to have you join us!
